Sharing a Book, Shaping the Future.
Share A Book, India started as a campaign to make sure that reading books in school for pleasure isn't considered a luxury but a necessity! We have grown as an organisation with a simple motto in mind to enable each child to read, imagine and grow to her fullest potential. We are determined to revolutionize education through the process of reading, as we believe that it is the only instrument, which can make learning easier for children, improve the quality of education, reduce student dropout rates, as well as fight social evils like child labour, child marriage etc., simultaneously.
Volunteers across India from diverse backgrounds have joined this reading movement initiated by us. They are given challenging roles to fulfil during their time as Youth Leaders of SABIA. Volunteers are required to dedicate their time to the cause every Saturday and hold regular story-telling sessions with schoolchildren of the third standard and above. Our volunteers help set up libraries and train students and teachers as members of library committees. Formalizing the library system is crucial to making books accessible to children in a regular manner.
Volunteers of any age group, possessing adequate literacy and record-keeping skills can apply and do their bit to give India a better future.
Some other ways you can help are by simply donating your old books here - those that you think you will not be picking up anytime soon; sponsoring a library; or simply by referring a school in your locality or in your knowledge that you think will benefit from our intervention.
If you want to join us in this endeavour, we heartily welcome you.
